STUDIO LIGHT

Naturally Beautiful Light

online workshop

Learn how to recreate natural light using studio lighting and how to use my studio light ‘window

Why Studio Light?

I strongly believe that light is a key factor in creating stunning images for your clients. I also believe that you shouldn’t be limited to, or by available natural light. Instead, I will teach you how to replace a natural light window with my ‘studio window‘ system that uses studio light and is easy to replicate in most studio spaces. I use this light for all of my sessions, maternity, newborn, baby and family and it helps me to achieve this beautiful, natural, almost lifestyle feel to my images.

How does it work?

The workshop consists of 4 separate meetings (via a zoom app), that cover 3 steps of setting up and working with the ‘studio window’, as well as my feedback from your test shoots.
Each meeting is between 1,5-2 hours long.

The steps:

1. Meeting 1: Setting up the Window

By the end of this meeting you will know how to set up the window in your own studio. You will know what you need to use and why. I will show you exactly what I use in my window and will provide you with a list of all the elements and equipment I use. No secrets here.

2. Meeting 2: Working with the Window
By the end of this meeting you will know how to work with the window
and shoot at different angles (with light, side light, 45 degrees and backlight). You will know how to set your light and camera for correct exposure and what to do if your images are too bright or too dark. I will also tell you what not to do, we will go over the most common mistakes that photographers do. We will also focus on subject placement in relation to the light, as this is another crucial area and mistakes can be made easily.

3. Practice: Test shooting & Feedback Meeting
Following that, it'll be time for your first test session. For this, I recommend a family member or a friend, as your task will be to test the window. You will receive detailed information on what images to shoot.

The test session will be followed by a feedback consultation. We'll go over and analyse the images, and tackle any issues if necessary (exposure, too much or too little shadow, flat light etc).

Next, you'll do your second test session. This one should be done with a model (a past client, a model call etc). During this session you'll be applying all we've learned about the light so far.

4. Meeting 4: Editing
By the end of this meeting you will know how to edit your images using my preset. We will also discuss white balance. All students will receive a copy of my preset.

BONUS:

A copy of my preset.
